Module 6, hosted by Dr Gareth Parkes and Professor Mathurin Fumery, is the final module in the IBD Training Academy with a focus on effective presentation skills and communication of scientific data. The module will be highly practical, covering important topics such as how to prepare impactful and informative slides, the power of storytelling, and tips and tricks for keeping your audience engaged – all providing you with the skills to deliver quality medical presentations. You will also hear from the experts about the importance of creating a digital presence, including the effective use of digital media to drive data dissemination.

Featuring Dr Gareth Parkes, this 3-hour workshop provided expert guidance and practical tips on how to structure and deliver engaging presentations, the power of effective storytelling and considerations for presenting online versus face-to-face.

With over 10,000 followers on Twitter, an email newsletter, and an online blog, Professor Lees shares his own experiences on the use of digital media to disseminate knowledge about IBD with both patients and fellow healthcare professionals.

Charlie Lees is Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Edinburgh, a UK Research and Innovation Future Leaders Fellow and Consultant Gastroenterologist in the Edinburgh IBD Unit. Professor Lees is centrally involved with the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation, is the Chief Scientists Office Speciality Lead for Gastroenterology in Scotland and Chair of the British Society of Gastroenterology IBD Clinical Research Group. His team are working on predicting outcomes in IBD, using routinely collected NHS data and dedicated multi-modal prospective cohorts to build predictive models.
