Module 3 will focus on the role of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in clinical practice to monitor outcomes important to patients, as well as the use of digital health in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This module will present the opportunity to share your own experiences of innovative solutions, speak to the experts about their experiences with PROs in IBD management and interrogate recent literature about the use of PROs.

This interactive session was aimed at developing your critical appraisal skills and literature awareness, and was led by Dr Gareth Parkes on Monday 8 August, 18:00–19:00 CEST.

Dr Peter Bossuyt, Gastroenterologist at the IBD clinic of the Imelda General Hospital in Bonheiden, Belgium, is Co-director of the Imelda GI Clinical Research Centre. In 2021, Dr Bossuyt obtained his PhD at the Catholic University of Leuven. His research focusses on clinical trials, eHealth tools in IBD and defining endoscopic and imaging targets. He is an editorial board member of the JCC, board member of ECCO ClinCom, past Chair of BIRD SciCom and is currently Secretary of BIRD. He has co-authored over 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Alissa Walsh
Translational Gastroenterology Unit, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, UK
Alissa Walsh is Consultant Gastroenterologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, UK. She completed a clinical fellowship in IBD and an Australian National Health and Medical Research Council fellowship and has since received her DPhil in clinical medicine. Her research focusses on IBD activity indices, prevention of opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients, faecal transplantation in UC and remote monitoring for patients with IBD. Dr Walsh is a Founder and Director of Crohn’s Colitis Cure, an Australian charity supporting IBD research.
