Module 4, led by Professor Raja Atreya and Professor Séverine Vermeire, will explore the key considerations for conducting
real-world studies, and approaches to statistical analysis and interpretation. Together with your peers, you will discuss how to structure scientific papers, and receive guidance on the publication process and medical writing excellence. You will also have the opportunity to hear the experts share their own learnings and experiences of setting up world-renowned research centres in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Please complete the eLearning for this module in your own time, accessible through the window below. Don’t forget to take the quiz at the end to assess your learning.
This session took place on Monday 17 October at 18:00–19:00 CEST; if you missed the meeting, please watch the recording below. Module hosts Professor Raja Atreya and Professor Séverine Vermeire considered the challenges of conducting and publishing research in IBD, and provided guidance on how best to overcome these. Based on their own personal experience, this webinar disseminated practical tips from the experts on how to efficiently set up research centres and/or groups in IBD, and the benefits of widening your network.
Watch Dr Narinder Kaur Gosall, Director of the Critical Appraisal Company, as she demonstrates how to interpret and communicate data using statistical methodologies commonly used in IBD research. With the aid of two key publications, you will learn how to analyse the strength of evidence presented, with a focus on statistical analysis techniques, types of research bias, and how best to minimise these. Take these skills and apply them to your own research!
