Charlie Lees

Prof. Lees, PhD in IBD genetics, is a Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Edinburgh and Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Edinburgh IBD unit, Scotland. In 2019, he was awarded a £1.7m fellowship that enabled his transition to full-time academia. He is Scottish Government Specialty Lead for Gastroenterology, Chair of the British Society of Gastroenterology IBD Clinical Research Group, and Chief Investigator of the PREdiCCt study. He is working on predicting outcomes in IBD and integrating health apps to disrupt IBD care and is a passionate lecturer on the current and future management of IBD, the causes and consequences of IBD, telemedicine and digital health.
